PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 28, 2025) — Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said Sunday that the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border has remained calm following a ceasefire agreement signed by both sides a day earlier.

Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, a ministry spokeswoman, said border areas stayed quiet from noon Saturday through Sunday morning. She said Cambodian forces continue to monitor the situation and remain on high alert to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The ceasefire follows a joint declaration reaffirming earlier peace agreements between the two countries, including the July 28 Ceasefire Agreement and the Oct. 26 Joint Peace Declaration.

Both sides also agreed to strengthen the mandate of the ASEAN Observer Team to verify and ensure effective implementation of the ceasefire.

Socheata said the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee approved the declaration, underscoring their commitment to fully implement the truce and to seek peace, stability and safety for civilians living along the border.

The Ministry of National Defence said further updates on the frontline situation will be released on its official Facebook page.
