France Urges Protection of Civilians and Safe Return of Displaced After Cambodia–Thailand Ceasefire
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Dec. 28, 2025) — France has welcomed the entry into force of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand and called on both sides to urgently take measures to protect civilians and facilitate the safe return of displaced populations.
In a statement issued by France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Paris said the ceasefire, which took effect on December 27 following the General Border Committee meeting, marks the resumption of dialogue between the military authorities of both countries.

France stressed that peace must now be consolidated and urged both parties to implement necessary actions to ensure civilian protection, support the return of displaced people, and resolve differences peacefully in accordance with international law.
Paris also reaffirmed that it remains alongside Cambodia, Thailand, and the ASEAN Presidency to provide continued support for efforts aimed at sustaining peace and stability along the border.
