PHNOM PENH, Feb 11, 2026 (KPT) – A Cambodian analyst has urged citizens, particularly young people, to respond to ongoing border tensions with Thailand by strengthening national unity, investing in skills, and supporting domestic production.

Dr Chey Tech said that when facing a militarily stronger counterpart, Cambodians should prioritize cohesion, rely on accurate official information, and align with government strategies rather than react emotionally or spread unverified claims.

He encouraged youth to pursue education, vocational training and market relevant skills to meet rising demand from Cambodia’s fast growing industrial sector. The analyst noted that recent foreign investment has created a need for a more skilled workforce to fill new jobs.

Chey also called on investors and businesses to expand genuine Cambodian made goods that can replace imports and strengthen the economy. He stressed that products should be authentically produced in Cambodia with proper standards, not relabeled imports.

His remarks come as the Council for the Development of Cambodia reported record investment approvals of more than $10 billion across 630 projects in 2025, expected to generate over 438,000 jobs, followed by $752 million in January approvals, largely in renewable energy and Special Economic Zone expansion.

Chey said building human capital, strengthening local industry and maintaining unity are practical, long term responses that can help Cambodia navigate external pressures while sustaining growth.
