Samdech Hun Sen Reflects on ASEAN Leaders’ Camaraderie in 2016 Photo

PHNOM PENH, 18 February 2026 (KPT) – Former Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen has recalled the warmth and cordiality among ASEAN leaders, marking the 10th anniversary of a landmark meeting with the United States.

The photo, originally shared by former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, commemorates the ASEAN-U.S. summit held on 17 February 2016, hosted by then U.S. President Barack Obama.

Reflecting on the image, Samdech TechoHun Sen noted that he was the youngest among the four prime ministers pictured, while Laos’ Thongloun Sisoulith was the eldest.

He praised the mutual respect and affection that characterized relations among the leaders at the time, extending his greetings to his fellow counterparts.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed gratitude to Lee Hsien Loong for sharing the commemorative photo, underscoring the enduring friendships and solidarity fostered through ASEAN cooperation.
