Sokhonn Meets Cambodian Diaspora in Australia Ahead of Talks With Leaders
CANBERRA, Mar. 15, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn on Saturday met with around 150 members of the Cambodian diaspora in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, conveying greetings from Prime Minister Hun Manet and other leaders.
Sokhonn said the outreach reflected Phnom Penh’s commitment to “leave no one behind,” stressing that all Cambodians abroad remain part of one national family.

The meetings came ahead of his bilateral talks with senior Australian officials, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the foreign minister and the defence minister. Sokhonn said the engagements would bolster economic cooperation and advance Cambodia’s national interests.
He noted that Cambodia–Australia ties had matured into what he called a “Modern Partnership,” built on more than seven decades of diplomatic relations since 1952. This trip marks his first official visit in his capacity as foreign minister.
Sokhonn also thanked the Cambodian community in Australia for their solidarity, saying their support strengthens the morale of Cambodia’s frontline troops and reinforces the country’s resolve to safeguard sovereignty.
