Cambodia and South Korea Reaffirm Strategic Partnership Across All Sectors

PHNOM PENH, Mar. 15, 2026 (KPT) – Cambodia and South Korea have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and expanding their “Strategic Partnership” across all sectors, officials said Sunday.

The pledge was made during the K-WAVE Peace Concert 2026, organized by the Cambodia Branch of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (PUAC) on Saturday. The event aimed to promote tourism, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, as well as joint efforts to combat online scam crimes that undermine travel, business, and tourism.

The concert was attended by Cambodia’s Tourism Minister Huot Hak, PUAC Chairman Lee Jae-myung, and South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia Kim Chang-yong, along with representatives from Cambodian and Korean companies, organizations, and banks.

In his remarks, Minister Hak praised the initiative, saying it contributed to promoting peace, solidarity, friendship, and cultural exchange between the two nations. He encouraged deeper mutual understanding through music, arts, and culture.

Hak also expressed gratitude to the organizers and reassured guests that Cambodia remains a safe tourism destination, offering warm hospitality to visitors worldwide. He stressed that the Royal Government is taking strong measures to eliminate cyber scam crimes at their roots to ensure a secure environment for tourists, citizens, and investors.

During the first two months of 2026, Cambodia welcomed nearly 690,000 international tourists, including about 15,100 visitors from South Korea, underscoring the Kingdom’s growing appeal in the Korean market.
