PHNOM PENH, Jan 28, 2026 (KPT) — Cambodia’s GDP per capita is projected to reach USD 3,020 this year, up from just USD 300 in 2000, the head of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) said Wednesday.

Speaking at the chamber’s Annual General Meeting, President Kith Meng cited the figure as evidence of the country’s long-term economic transformation, with national GDP rising from USD 716 million in 1980 to a projected USD 53 billion in 2026.

He credited decades of peace, government reforms and private sector growth for the progress.

Despite global and regional headwinds, Cambodia posted 5 percent growth in 2025 and is targeting the same pace in 2026.

Meng noted that 93 percent of reform measures under the Government–Private Sector Forum had been completed, easing taxation, customs and logistics.

He said the chamber’s priorities this year will be SME formalization, digital adoption and stronger international trade links to sustain momentum.
