PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Oct.01, 2025) — Cambodia and Thailand will convene a series of Regional Border Committee (RBC) meetings in October to strengthen military cooperation and address border-related issues, according to the Ministry of National Defence.

The meetings will involve Cambodia’s Military Regions 3, 4 and 5, and Thailand’s Army Regions 1 and 2, as well as the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command.

Cambodia’s Military Region 5 and Thailand’s Army Region 1 will meet from Oct. 10–12 in Banteay Meanchey province. Military Region 4 and Army Region 2 are scheduled to meet from Oct. 7–9 in Uddor Meanchey province. A third meeting between Military Region 3 and the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command is also planned for October, with dates to be confirmed.

All meetings will be hosted by the Cambodian side, and formal invitations have been extended to Thai counterparts, the ministry said.

The RBC mechanism serves as a key platform for both countries to maintain open lines of communication between their armed forces and to promote the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, said the meetings aim to foster practical cooperation, enhance peace and stability, and restore normalcy in Cambodia-Thailand relations through continued dialogue.
